Sea Level Rise Assessment Report Highlighted at Equinox Summit II in Brussels

At the second Equinox Summit in Brussels on March 26, the Joint Knowledge Hub on Sea Level Rise made a presentation of the upcoming First Assessment Report of the Knowledge Hub on Sea Level Rise in Europe, which synthesizes key data on sea level rise projections and impacts across Europe and provides adaptation measures and governance insights, to guide policy in European coastal regions. Presented by co-chair Bart van den Hurk at the event, the assessment report serves as a prime example of an Equinox product, underscoring the Equinox Process’s commitment to translating climate science into practical policy tools to support adaptation and resilience and across Europe.

About the Equinox Summit
The Equinox process, initiated last year by JPI Climate and launched with a first Equinox Summit under the auspices of the Belgian Minister of Climate and State Secretary for Research, is supported by the Horizon Europe project MAGICA and aims to accelerate the transfer of knowledge from science and innovation to policy and action in Europe.
The second Equinox Summit, held under the Belgian EU Council Presidency, brought together leaders to strengthen the bridge between climate science and policy. Opened by Belgium’s Special Envoy for Climate, Luc Jacobs, the summit highlighted Europe’s leadership in climate research and the need for accessible knowledge to meet shared climate goals. The event emphasized long-term collaboration through the Equinox Process, aiming to accelerate the integration of scientific findings—such as the Sea Level Rise report—into actionable policy across Europe.
